Let me start off by saying - the cover describes this novel as "A Ghost Story" and while some may interpret that, I did not think it was that at all.... let me explain.
So I think the plot of this book is supposed to be open to the readers to decide - the theme of this book to me was about Mental Health, and when it comes to schizophrenia the mind can play tricks on people. We are to determine whether or not what she sees is real or not.
Quick Summary
A small group of influencers are invited for a getaway Event in Romania. At The Event these influencers will be getting paid to live their daily lives along with chatting with fans, daily activities, and challenges. But the place they are living has a haunted and bloody past and seems to be playing tricks on them all. Cath, the main characters, starts to learn secrets that her peers are keeping and has to battle with her own mind as her mental health starts to decline.
Characters
The author did a fantastic job with the characters, I hated and loved them all at the same time. Cath, who this story is told by, is a young writer with a troubled mind and past who wants to try and be more social. Jules, ends up being close friends with Cath and is a blogging feminist from NY. Dan, a young fitness guru and Nathan, a computer gaming geek. Finally Irene, who set up the entire event is a superstar who the world loves because of her rough start in life.
Overall - I don't think this book was for me, I would definetly recommend it to some people but there wouldn't be many. It was a very slow read and didn't get exciting until the last 30 pages or so. I don't like the idea of me having to determine what is going on as I'm a pretty straight forward person. Lot's of things were left unsaid and while I didn't like it - the author did a great job regardless.
