UGH. I hate giving bad reviews so much.
Anyone else?
Regardless, I received this eBook for free in exchange for my honest opinion and that's what I am going to do. I will call it... constructive criticism!
I am going to start this post out by saying I am not a professional critic and I am entitled to my own opinions, as is everyone else. What I like, you may not and what you I hate, you may not as well.
Quick Summary
Molly, the main character, is an outdoorsy women who stumbles upon an old cemetery that has a brad new black tombstone that is hundreds of years newer than the rest. Throughout the book she experiences visions of of a murder that is going to happen in the future. She then tries to find clues that will lead her to who the person is so she can stop it from happening. She then finds out who it is, stops it, and happily ever after....
Characters
I honestly enjoyed Molly's character, but she was kind of boring overall. Her friend Sarah and Jeremy were very likeable as well but... lacking the personality. Then there were about 3 characters mentioned in the entire book that I have NO clue why they were even mentioned.
Plot
I think the idea and or plot of the book was fantastic. To start even writing a book like this you need a mystery to go off of. Blokzyl did just that, she had a great backstory to the crime and all the different pieces eventually came together smoothly. She even put many subtle hints throughout the book that helps you connect the dots.
What I disliked the most though of this short story (104 pages) is that 95% of the book was useless detail about her day to day life.
Example: Molly came home put a pizza in the oven for 5 minutes. Once the oven beeped she took it out and sliced it into 8 pieces. She took 3 pieces to the couch and sat down to watch tv. Once her show was over she tossed her plate into the trash, and went to bed.
See what I am getting at? Usually details are what make a good story but there is a thing called way too much detail. Unfortunately I do not think I would recommend this book to anyone but I am always willing to try and give this author another shot in the future.
P.S. Early in this post I mentioned I got this book for free!! If you want free books (I mean who doesn't?) keep reading my posts! Sometime next week I will write about the process and how you can get some too!
