Book 3 from Chronicles of the One

This was the 3rd and final book... and now it's over... all the people I spent this year learning and loving.... all over.
It's funny, because I never would have started a book like this but one of my best friends suggested it to me. So I head over to B&N and there in the bargain section for $6 is the first book. It was like fate haha. I love a good fantasy every now and again but one with magic and action... it was out of my comfort zone.
And I am SO glad I read it!
Quick Summary
This book pretty much conquers Fallon and her army conquering the book cities that are overruled with DUs, Purity Warriors, Raiders, and pretty much anything dark. Fallon and Duncan finally decide to give their connection a shot, and it moves along pretty quickly! A lot of this book is the prep to the fights such as training, planning, mapping, scouting, etc. While that may not sound as interesting.. Roberts does a great job at keeping the readers attention. Conquering Arlington and New York were probably my favorite battles to read about because Fallon described the leaders and everyone we have learned about in the entire series doing there part. It was like putting the last piece in the puzzle... very satisfying.
Then towards the end we finally get to meet Petra and Allegra. In the end they conquer the dark magic and put it away... technically...? haha. Then it kind of just ends... happily ever after.
Opinion
Ugh, While I loved this book I, of course, have some things I wish were different. To start off... There was only 1 main character death and while some people find that amazing, I feel like it makes the book a bit boring and loses it's thrill. It's sad when someone we love dies in a book but I feel like Roberts needed to show the reader how series battle can be and it felt very unrealistic to me.
I am also disappointed with the ending. The "final battle" was maybe 5 pages long and kind of boring and uneventful. It was like so much was building up to the climax and BAM.. it stopped and ended into a happily ever after.
(You'll understand ladies how disappointing it can be to have a build up abruptly stop.)
Then the epilogue was very short as well... maybe another 5 page and it was maybe a week after the battles ended? What I think would have been better, especially for closure was an epilogue 10 years from now. When the characters from the first book are growing old watching their children grow old. I would have liked to see how the world was and where Fallon and Duncan ended up.
But oh well, we can't all get what we want.
Overall I enjoyed this book very much and I am sad to see it come to an end. It was a great fantasy novel with love, kindness, action, and so many other life lessons. The One, or Fallon, was probably the best character I have ever read about... so awesome job Nora Roberts!
