Stop what you are doing now and grab or download this contemporary romance!!!
First off - this book is 1 in a standalone series called the "Wingmen," which means they are all intertwined and related but you don't have to read them all or in order to understand what's going on.
What I LOVED the most about this book thought guys.... was it came from the man's point of view!! As you probably already know, most romances come from the woman's point of view which is usually for the best but it's nice to have a different perspective every now and again - especially coming from the handsome and rugged John Day.
Where do I start? Oh yeah! A lumberman and a city girl....
Quick Summary
This book is about a lumberjack, John, who befriends his newly leased neighbor, Diane. Diane is going through a really rough divorce and decided to up and get away from city life and to the small island town near Seattle. John and Diane agree to have a friend only pack and enjoy each others company. But as more time is spent, new feelings start to arise in both of them. They both have walls built up but John's are thicker and harder to break down.
Characters
Honestly, there is nothing I hate about the main characters AT ALL! John Day is a gruff and handsome hard worker who really is a nice guy (even if he doesn't think it himself). He isn't afraid to express himself and the sarcastic flirting makes me laugh out loud - literally. Then Diane honestly is very different from other females in these kinds of books. She has trouble opening up but when she does she is flirting back and sarcastic and honestly sexy! She isn't afraid to tell John what she wants and it's refreshing.. no sub behavior at all!
There are a few characters that help make up the story such as John's ex (I am actually glad there wasn't any childish drama there) and some other outliers who don't' have much importance. John's best friend Tom, it mentioned quite a bit and that's because the second book in this standalone series is about him..... And while I loved this book so much, Tom's character annoyed me and I have no intention of reading about his life no matter what demons he carries.
Honestly if you want a refreshingly romantic comedy that is light hearted yet still sexy and fun... give it a shot! You won't regret it! ;)
